10 Fun Facts on Single-Leg Training

The Single-Leg Solution

I’ve got to admit, I’m pretty exhausted.

Between getting the single-leg product to my distributor last week, and then promoting it over this past week, I don’t have much energy left.

As such, I want to give you guys one final “quick and dirty” blog post to finish off the week.  If you haven’t picked up your copy of the Single-Leg Solution yet, you better do so quick as the price goes up $20 on Friday night at midnight!

So here are 10 fun facts regarding single-leg training that came out of our Tweetchat yesterday.  It was my first time running one of those, and I hope next time we’ll get an even better response!

1) Most people start off far too aggressively with their single-leg training. You typically can’t start w/walking lunges Day 1 😉

2) Another mistake is using Bulgarian split-squats too soon. Many don’t have the rectus femoris extensibility to do this exercise correctly.

3) Powerlifters can really benefit from single-leg work – ESPECIALLY the hip flexor mobility you get from split-stance exercises.

4) Women benefit from single-leg work d/t their inclination toward poor quad:ham ratios, weak hip stabilizers, etc.

5) Another group that benefits greatly from single-leg training is endurance athletes. They generally need more hip/knee STABILITY.

6) One thing that’s hard to argue – most people need both single and double-leg lifts in their programming. It’s not black & white for one or the other.

7) I love single-leg training after all, but you can’t develop max strength to the same degree as w/squats, deads, etc.

8) The single-leg squat is fantastic – you get mobility work, stability work, AND single-leg strength.

9) Pistols are the creme-de-la-creme of single-leg exercises. The key for most people is making them more symmetrical.

10) Even if you can’t do pistols, clients can still benefit from single-leg squat variations that reduce the load, ROM, etc.

Don’t forget! You have less than 48 hours to take advantage of the introductory price.
