A call to arms....
Over the past couple of months, I've been alluding to all the new things we're working on at Robertson Training Systems.
Well, it's about time to start moving and shaking. The first step is going to be an interview series, starting off with the one and only Kevin Larrabee.
In case you don't know Kevin, he's the creator of The FitCast podcast, and a trainer at Boston Sports Club.
But here's the cool thing - he's really just now getting into the industry. He's seemingly been around forever, but he's just now getting started on the professional side.
So here's where I need your help - what questions do you have for Kevin? Some ideas I had include:
- Stuff about the FitCast
- What school is/was like
- How school prepared him for the "real-world"?
- What things he's learned since starting as a full-time trainer?
What questions to you guys have? Leave them in the Comments section below and I'll do my best to ask all of them.
There's more to this story than meets the eye, but help me out and ask some questions, ok? ;)
Stay strong
MR

What were some of the biggest things that helped you get to were you are at such a young age?

Having had both schooling and an internship, which do you think helped you the most and why? Also, what fundamental knowledge should an aspiring trainer have down pat before attempting to break into the fitness industry?

I'd like to second the first two comments and the last two question ideas you posted, Mike:
- How school prepared him for the "real-world"?
- What things he's learned since starting as a full-time trainer?

What was it like training at Cressey Performance. Has this influenced you and how.
Cheers.

Looking back on your journey into the professional side of the industry, what are some set backs or mistakes you think you would have avoided if starting over? What or whom did you usually turn to that helped out?
Thanks!

Would really like to know what professional certification programmes he rates and who are the top 3 people to intern with? thanks!

I'd like to know how many times he is going to miss a 300-pound bench press before he just sacks up and asks me to write him a program to get him to it. Ha!

Without getting too personal, would you say that your job pays enough to keep you rolling in the grass fed ground beef, or are you living similar to how you were in college?

Hahahahahahahahaha. Eric, that is almost the exact same question that I was going to ask.
How about... what vague percentage of the CSCS exam have you forced yourself to forget?

Awesome questions everyone!
Taking this a step further, what questions would you like ME to answer? I'll be grilling Kevin, but questions for myself will help in another section.
If you have any ideas, just let me know. Thanks!

MIke,
You asked for it:
How would you describe the experience of being an "internet coach?" What pleasures, frustrations, difficulties, advantages, limits, etc are there of working this way? WHY would you choose to do such work?

Kevin-how did you feel after Tony put your flat bench press attempt on his blog for the world to see? Now that is a good question to ask. Down here in Texas, we say you got put on blast.

Why did you go into the field of fitness?
