My Perspective
I'm begging you - please, don't send me links to hate any more.
I don't care if someone trashes me on their blog, in their newsletter, or following an article that I've written.
I sincerely appreciate the people who read my blog, my newsletter, and/or who listen to my Podcast (and I'm going to prove it next week!). But you really don't have to go to war for me - and in all honesty, I'm not going to get into any debates with keyboard warriors.
This isn't to say that I know everything, or that I'm unwilling to learn from others. In fact, quite the contrary is true. This is one of the reasons I'll be attending the Russian Kettlebell Certification this weekend - to make me a better coach and to learn more about training. I like to think of myself as very open-minded, and I'm definitely not married to any specific training dogma.
As I was having dinner the other night, I realized something very important - I'm damn lucky. Each and every day, I get to work with amazing clients and athletes. Hell, in the next two months I have clients who are going to be competing in MMA, powerlifting, Olympic lifting, and even figure shows! And this doesn't even account for all the regular Joe's and Jane's who come in to get fit and feel better about themselves.
While I may not be perfect, it's not for lack of trying, or for lack of caring. I want and expect the aboslute best from every client and athlete I work with. And I sincerely hope they know that.
So when it comes down to the end of the day, I don't really care if TotallyJakt5000 dislikes me, trashes my methods, or thinks I don't know how to train. In most cases, they've never even met me, let alone watch me train someone!
At the end of the day, the only people that matter to me are the ones I work with - because it's their results, and their lives, that matter most.
Stay strong
MR

Very well said, Mike.
And thanks for all you've done for me (and others).

Mike, you certainly are one of a kind. So positive, so focused on what's important, and so beyond the crap that surrounds most of our lives. There are times when I read your posts and they absolutely make my day. This was one of them.
I'll be sure to be looking you up when I move back to the midwest.
Cheers, and keep up the fantastic work.

Constructive words are great, but someone tell me "you suck" is not helpful.

No use in bringing hate into our lives.
Mike, I remember a post where you talked about how some people think there is plenty of pie for everyone and others feel that there is not enough pie to go around (or something to that effect) I have referred to that ever since. A bell went off when I read that and I think you hit the nail on the head.
I think I read your stuff as much for you attitude and ways of looking at things as I do for the training..although that is a huge part of it. Thanks for everything.
