Barcelo Los Cabos Barcelo Los Cabos

It's been a crazy week, but I wanted to put this up before I left.  Here goes!

-  Evidently, Cressey and Reinold's DVD is still on sale!  Click here to pick it up before Wednesday, when the price goes up $30!

-  As I mentioned Thursday, I'm dialing in the details for the Midwest Performance Enhancement Seminar. I think we've settled on a location, and I'm hoping to have the presenters info pulled together by the end of the month.  Stay tuned!

-  A quick congratulations to my buddy Mike Irr, head strength coach for the Charlotte Bobcats.  The Bobcats qualified for the playoffs for the first time in team history, and I'm sure Mike played a big role in that.  Congrats Mike!

-  My gosh, the Single-Leg Solution (SLS) is so close!  Unfortunately I leave...

Q&A: Partial knee meniscectomy

Bulletproof Knees Bulletproof Knees

I had partial meniscectomy done recently (70% of anterior medial meniscus is gone due to bucket handle tear). Now I'm recovering fine, with no pains, swelling or clicking whatsoever, but I was told to avoid impact activities, and pretty much to stick to biking only.

I don't like "biking only" idea, since it would probably overdevelop quad relative to posterior chain. So I'd prefer to do deadlifts and bulgarian single leg squats (or reverse lunges) as well, and possibly more.

Do you think these activities 3x week will accelerate the cartilage wear due to meniscus deficiency?

Regards,
G.

P.S. My surgeon was not enthusiastic about any exercise that put knee under load when flexed over 45% degrees. And sticking to that rule results in a very pathetic range of exercises....

First off, thanks...

REAL Mini Marathon Training

Marathon training Marathon training

Today, I'm pissed off.

How can I be pissed, you ask?  I'm two days out from vacation.  I shouldn't have a care in the world!

Today, all I wanted to do was write my Random Friday blog post, as I had about 8-10 great points to throw in there.

But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Today, I'm going to talk about how silly some people make strength training out to be for endurance athletes.

It all started yesterday, as I was reading a piece in the Indy Star about how people train to prep for the Indy Mini marathon.  As I was reading the piece, I came across this photo:

DB Upright Row on a Physioball (sorry I can't put it in here directly)

Pretty silly, isn't it?

But now, that's how 1/2 the people who run the Indy mini-marathon feel they need to...

The 2010 Midwest Performance Enhancement Seminar

2010 Midwest Performance Enhancement Seminar 2010 Midwest Performance Enhancement Seminar

Once again, I'm trying to do 1000 things at a time, but I think we're dialing things in for this year's seminar.

Assuming all goes well today at the Hilton (i.e. the conference room isn't a rat infested dump, the coffee doesn't taste like toxic sludge, etc.) I should have a finalized venue by the end of business today.

For those of you who are interested, here are the preliminary details (keep in mind these can and will change once I have all the firm details):

2010 Midwest Performance Enhancement Seminar
