Renewed Motivation

Renewed Motivation

I love Brian Grasso.

Now before you get all carried away with that statement, let me clarify a bit.

Every time I sit down with BG, he puts a thought in my head.  The unfortunate problem is, it’s almost impossible to get rid of this thought, no matter how hard I try!

At this past weekend’s NSCA Illinois state seminar, BG, Bill Hartman and myself were chatting about the topic of marketing.  Now if you’ve been around the fitness industry for any period of time, you’ll know that Internet marketing is a hugely debated topics.

Do sales copy, ad pages really work?  Are they effective?  Or just annoying?

How much is too much marketing?

What is the difference between effective marketing, and sleazy sales tactics?

These are topics that have been bouncing around in my head ever since chatting with Brian.

The issue here is that there’s no clear-cut or well-defined answer.

Brian made a great point, though:  If you have a great product or service, you’re doing people a disservice by not telling them about it.

Because you know what the alternative is?  Someone with lesser skills and better marketing is going to sell them something.

I think sometimes I’ve been too tenative in my marketing for myself, my products, and my services.  There’s a fine line between being confident in your approach and methods, and taking things over the top.

Not anymore.

I think if anything, Brian has firmed my resolve for what it is I do.  At IFAST, Bill and I have had amazing success with helping people get stronger, lose body fat, or improve their sporting performance.  In fact, a few of the transformations I’ve seen in the past year have been nothing short of astounding.

Along those same lines, I firmly believe Assess and Correct is one of the most powerful products on the market today.  It crosses barriers – whether your goal is fat loss, muscle gain, or to get really freakin’ strong, this product can help you get there faster – and with fewer injuries.

I probably know what you’re thinking – “Great, now Mike is going to be like all of those other Internet marketing types that only comes online to pimp products and make a few quick bucks.”

This has never been the case, and it won’t start now!

One of my pet peeves in this industry is how the Internet has leveled the playing field.  It’s harder than ever to determine who the real trainers who.  Who has gotten results, and who just writes about it.

Eric said it best a few months ago:  “When I stop training clients, I’ll stop writing about training.”  I’m in the same boat, because nothing pisses me off more than people who write about training, or sell products about training, yet don’t do any training!

If you think it’s crazy, think again.

I am still going to blog, write newsletters, produce Podcasts, and develop products to help people achieve their goals.  The only difference is that I’m not going to be quite so reserved in telling you how I think I can help.

I definitely don’t have all the answers, but it’s never going to be due to a lack of trying.

So with 2010 right around the corner, I have no doubt in my mind that Robertson Training Systems and Indianapolis Fitness and Sports Training are going to grow to new-found highs.

Buckle-up and enjoy the journey!

Stay strong

MR
