5 Reasons YOU Should Join the Athletic Strength Training Group

2011 Weightlifting Junior nationals 2011This week I kicked off the Athletic Strength training group, and I’ve seen a huge surge of interest since we opened our doors yesterday.

However, that interest has also led to a bunch of questions about the program. And those questions have got me thinking about reasons why you may be interested in joining the program.

Here are just a few reasons why joining the Athletic Strength training group may be an awesome fit for you and your training.

Reason #1 – Your Strength Has Plateaued

As someone who has lifted weights and strength trained for 21 years now, I can say this definitively:

There is nothing worse than a plateau when it comes to your training!

Everything seems to be a bit harder than it should.

Your less motivated to train, because you’re not seeing the progress you want.

And sometimes, you wonder when (or if!) you’re going to snap out of this funk!

Look, sometimes the body just needs something different. Whether it’s a small tweak to what you’re already doing, or an entirely different program, you have to train smarter if you want to get stronger.

In the Athletic Strength program, we’re going to move through three training cycles, each with a specific focus or goal.

Your main lift (squat, press and deadlift) variation will be the same each cycle, but we’ll tweak the set/rep schemes and other variables to give your body a fresh stimulus and kick-start those gains!

Reason #2 – Your Technique on the Big Lifts Needs Help

One of the biggest issues I see nowadays is someone is following an awesome program, yet their technique is what’s holding them back.

For example I’ve been working with a young gal for about 6 weeks now on her squat and bench press technique. She’s following a very solid powerlifting program, but she wasn’t seeing the type of progress she’d expect.

In literally one personal training session for the squat and one for the bench, her technique is significantly improved and I’m confident he’s going to hit some huge PR’s in her next meet.

How valuable would it be for me to help you improve and dial in your technique on the big lifts?

But let’s talk about the elephant in the room here – training someone online just isn’t as good as training them live and in person.

You love the dynamic process of doing a set, or doing a rep, and then I can immediately fix that.

So it’s not perfect.

But I’ve trained clients online for years, and I’ve been very successful helping them move and feel better, while getting stronger than ever before.

And last but not least, I’m going to help and coach you personally. I don’t have extra coaches or anyone else helping me out (outside of the Facebook group/community we’ve created).

I feel as though the coaching alone is worth the price of admission, as a small tweak or refinement in technique could be the only difference between you and a massive PR.

Reason #3 – You Want to Learn More About Program Design

In the age of the Internet, data and information is literally at our fingertips.

Want to know about training? Investing? Building a rocket ship?

You can do all of that online via a quick Internet search.

But while you have access to a ton of information, that doesn’t mean that all of the information is of high-quality, let alone correct!

Many people want to learn more about how I design programs, and this will be a great way to do so.

Each month, you’ll not only get your training block with all the standard information (sets, reps, rest periods, etc.), but you’ll get explanations of the following:

  1. The training cycle itself. What is the goal of this training cycle? Why did I lay things out the way that I did? Why is this set/rep scheme valuable? I’ll give you some insight here, as I believe an educated athlete is a motivated athlete.
  2. The exercises selected. Assistance exercise selection is a blend of art and science. For me, I feel as though many people can do the right things on their big lifts and see gains, but if they can improve and maximize efficiency with the right assistance lifts, they can supercharge their progress.

The most important question I’ll answer is “Why.” And if you’re someone who is interested in their craft, then you’re always thinking about why someone makes the choices they do.

Think of this as not only a training program, but as continuing education if you’re a personal trainer or strength coach.

Because trust me, I can guarantee you’ll pick up a few new tips and tricks along the way!

Reason #4 – You Get Weekly Coaching Videos

Each week, members of the Athletic Strength training group will get a short video from me that’s focused on exercise technique.

More often than not, when I work with someone (either live or online) their technique is at least in the ballpark of being correct.

But sometimes, it’s just one little tweak or adjustment that makes all the difference in the world.

The tips I’m going to cover are some of the things that I’ve been working hard on with all of my clients in the gym.

They’re the little tweaks that make a profound impact on how they’re moving and feeling.

And these videos will only be available to members of the group until we’re all done.

So basically, you’re going to be 12-weeks ahead of everyone else in this regard!

Reason #5 – You Can Tweak Things to Make the Program Your Own

Last but not least, I think one of the greatest advantages of the Athletic Strength program is the amount of freedom I give you within the template.

For example, we all know that:

  1. Not everyone has the same goals, and
  2. Not everyone can perform the same lifts.

So for both of these reasons, I’m giving you the opportunity to tweak the big lifts and choose what works best for you.

In fact, I know one gentleman who is going to join and is planning on swapping out his big-bang press for a chin-up variation, because it’s more sport-specific for him!

So making the program your own is a definite benefit, but it goes a bit further than that.

Beyond the standard strength training component, I’m also going to provide optional cardiovascular/energy system training alongside the base program.

I know some people just want strength – and trust me, I’m totally fine with that!

However, others want to shed a bit of body fat, too.

And others just want to keep the cardiovascular system (and the old ticker!) working in tip-top shape.

The point here is that while you’re getting a program each month, what you’re really getting is a template that you can mold and shape into something that truly focuses on your unique needs and goals.

Summary

Obviously, I’m more than excited about the Athletic Strength program, and we’ve already gotten a ton of interest in the group.

If you’re serious about getting the most out of your training in 2015, please get signed up ASAP. The registration deadline is this Friday at midnight, EST, and after that the group will be closed.
