Robertson Training Systems Updates:

New Article Up!

For those of you who missed it, I had a new mini-article go up at T-Nation last week. Check it out here:

Perfecting the Romanian Deadlift

Bulletproof Knees is READY!

I’ve been getting almost daily e-mails regarding the Bulletproof Knees manual, and many of you will be happy to hear it’s finally done!

However, as with any new product there’s a lot more that goes into it than just writing up some text. Right now I’m finalizing all the graphics, getting the website ready, and finishing up some super-sweet bonuses that I think everyone will enjoy.

I’m looking to release the BPK manual either the week I return from vacation (the 16th of April) or at the very latest the 23rd of April. As well, I’m going to give a great discount for the first week ONLY, and as a Robertson Training Systems newsletter subscriber you’ll be one of the first to know about it’s release.

Stay tuned!

Vacation April 9th-13th

Just an FYI for anyone who tries to contact me, but I’ll be out from April 9th-13th. I’m taking my wife on a much-needed vacation to Cancun for her bithday, so don’t expect any prompt replies from me that week!

Training Tip:

Where are you at thus far?

This isn’t so much a training tip but a training thought – where are you at thus far this year?

As I’m typing this newsletter, I’m realizing it’s already APRIL! That means one quarter of this year is already gone, and it’s time to critically evaluate what you’ve done so far this year.

Are you on your way to achieving your fitness goals?

Has the program you laid out for yourself fast-tracked you for success?

Are the other areas of your life improving as well? In other words, are you taking advantage of synergy?

If not, NOW is the time to adjust course! Don’t wait until the end of the year to figure out that what you’re currently doing is or isn’t working; constant evaluation and “tweaking” of your plan will help ensure that 2007 is your best year ever!

Nutrition Tip:

Fiber Facts
By Dr. John Berardi

Shoot for about 40-50g of mixed fiber per day when dieting, but no more. The absolute lower limit is 20g per day. Your main fiber sources should be (in order of importance): vegetables, beans, nuts, fruit, and grains (like oatmeal). If you eat 1 oz of mixed nuts, 1 apple, 2 cups of kidney beans, and 2 cups of mixed vegetables each day, you’ll be getting 41g of fiber. A small amount of supplemental fiber is okay. You can get soluble fiber from psyllium, guar gum, and apple pectin, and insoluble fiber from flax seeds.

A Commitment to Improving Robertson Training Systems

Over the past couple of months, I’ve found myself in a very interesting place. I’m the first to tell you that I don’t know everything this industry has to offer; in fact, it’s quite the contrary. The more I learn, the more I learn there’s a lot of stuff I have no clue about!

With that being said, I’ve come to the realization that while I think I know a few things about the fitness industry, I want to learn more. And not more in the sense of “Wow, he can talk a good game.” What I want to improve upon, and make you aware of today, is that I’m renewing my commitment to truly understanding the human body. Plenty of people can talk a good game, but when engaged in discussion can’t defend their rationale or protocols. They know, but they don’t understand.

I’m taking it all down to the basics: I have my “big rocks” that make up my basic philosophy, but I want to shore it up even more. I want to better define why it is I do what I do, and why it works. I want to ask myself the hard questions – so that when someone else poses them to me, I can give them a well-thought out and rationalized answer.

Most importantly, I want to make a commitment to no longer take any statements at face value; with more and more purported “experts” in the field, I want to become even sharper at figuring out who’s worth their salt and who’s out there trying to make a quick buck. The true “experts” in this field are few and far between; rather than seeking out these so-called “experts,” I want to reach out to others like myself who crave true understanding.

Finally, I’m making a new commitment TO YOU, the readers of my newsletter. I have some great ideas to take this newsletter to the next level, and as always I want to let you know how much I appreciate your support. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you!

Thanks for everything!
