Robertson Training Systems Updates

Indy Seminar early registration pushed back to May 1st

Since I was a little delinquent in getting all the materials out there with regards to the Indy Seminar (I know, a rookie mistake!), we’ve decided to push back the early registration until May 1st.

What does this mean?  If you’re interested in attending, you have until May 1st to get the early bird rate of $129.  After that, the price will jump up to $159!

You don’t want to miss out – if you’re in the area, this is going to be a great event and hopefully the start of an annual tradition.

New Resources Page is up and running

One of the last pages to get completed on the site was my “Resources” page.  Just like my good friend Eric Cressey, I get asked all the time for what books, DVD’s and other continuing education material I’m reading/reviewing.  This page will be a constant work in progress, but at least now I have SOMETHING to show for my efforts!

If you haven’t check it out yet, follow the link below (or immediately to your left).

Who do YOU want to see interviewed?

We’ve been going for 3 months strong with great interviews, but at some point the well will run dry.  To try and prevent this, I’d love to get some feedback from you all.

Who would YOU like to see interviewed?  If they are in any way, shape or form related to this field, let me know and I’ll try to get them on here for an interview.

If there’s someone you’d like to see interviewed, send a request to [email protected] and we’ll see if we can’t get them on.  Thanks!

New article up at T-nation

For those of you that may have missed it, I had a new article go up at T-Nation yesterday.  You can check it out here:

20 Things I’m Thinking About

Bulletproof Knees sale a huge success!

Testimonials:  Magnificent Mobility, Inside-Out, Building the Efficient Athlete and Bulletproof Knees

Just wanted to let you guys know that I have had excellent results utilizing the information from several of your training products. As a police officer I work long shifts and my body is often placed under additional stress from the extra weight that I carry around on my duty belt and body armour (which can weigh from 10 to 20 lbs). I found that with work and physical training combined I was beginning to suffer lower back pain along with tight hamstrings which only compounded the problem. I tried lots of different stretching to try to loosen the problematic areas, but it never really seemed to make much difference. It didn’t matter how much I stretched my hamstrings they never seemed to loosen up. I then purchased both the Magnificent Mobility DVD and the Inside-Out DVD.

After using both these DVD’s I began to feel much better and my overall mobility/flexibility was much improved.

With the success I gained from those DVD’s I ended up purchasing “Building the Efficient Athlete” DVD and “Bullet Proof Knees” DVD. I bought the DVD’s to learn more about how the body works and to try to improve on some imbalances that I had and to try to prevent any future problems from developing.

I soon realized that my tight hamstrings were the result of bad posture problems from a pelvic tilt issue. Stretching my hamstrings was the exact opposite of what I should have been doing. Instead I learned that I needed to focus on loosening up the quads and hips more and actually strengthening the hamstrings. Since making adjustments to my training and doing more mobility stretching and foam rolling I have been able to alleviate most of the problems I was developing and no longer suffer the back pain and tight hamstrings that I used to have to endure.

I believe the above products that Mike Robertson, Eric Cressey and Bill Hartman produced are a must for anyone who is serious about sports, about training, and about improving themselves. The DVD’s will teach you some functional aspects of anatomy, but more importantly they will teach you new ways of thinking that will help you to assess problematic areas. The DVD’s will also provide you with the knowledge to improve the way your own body works.

I have had great success from these four products and would definitely recommend them to anyone who’s been plagued with nagging injuries, tightness in their bodies or for those who would like to make their bodies more efficient and possibly prevent injuries in the future.

Thanks,
Kevin

Training Tip

Compete!

This past weekend I went to the Dave Martin Memorial Powerlifting meet in Bloomington, Indiana.  It’s always great to go to a state level meet and catch up with old friends.

One thing that this reminded me of as well is that competition can really take your performance and physique to the next level.  Whether it’s a bodybuilding show, a powerlifting contest, or just a set “date” you have with yourself, training will never go better than when you have a set deadline.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – if you really want to take your strength, physique, endurance or anything else to the limits, you HAVE to compete.  You have to put it all out there and see where you’re at, and what you need to work on.  And I promise, once you’ve done it, you’ll want to do it again and again.

There’s simply no better way to gauge your progress than to compete against others, and more importantly, yourself.  Give it a shot and I’ll promise you’ll see some amazing gains in your future training!

Nutrition Tip

Pre-Eat When Going Out
By Mike Roussell

Birthday parties, cocktail hour at your wife’s friend’s house, dinner at your parents all these occasions can wreak havoc on a well thought out meal plan. This is why proper Damage Control is important. So what can you do?

Pre-Eat.

Heading to a sugar laden social event on an empty stomach is a bad idea. And if you’re thinking “But I have great willpower” stop, why test yourself. Proper pre-eating will put a little food in your stomach, curb your hunger, and slow the digestion of whatever foods you do end up eating when you go out.

One of my favorite pre-eats is a medium sized apple and one ounce of low fat cheddar cheese. Apples have fiber, a low glycemic index, and have been shown to curb appetite. The cheese contains protein and fat both of which will increase your satiety (make you feel fuller) and slow the digestion of any other foods you eat.

Next time you find yourself headed to an unexpected social event run damage control and pre-eat!
