LA Strength Seminar

Two new products coming out soon!

As you all know, Bill Hartman and myself are putting the finishing touches on the Inside-Out (I/O) DVD and manual, and we’re looking tenatively at a mid-to-late August release date. As well, to the first 100 customers who purchase the DVD, we’re going to throw in the DVD AND THE MANUAL, ALL FOR ONE DISCOUNTED RATE! Stay tuned, as newsletter subscribers will be the first to know about this limited-time offer.

Next, as some of you already know, Eric and I just got back from our “Building the Efficient Athlete” seminar in New York. The thing is, we understand that not everyone can make it to a full-weekend seminar, especially if they live across county. So we’re going to help you out – we’re going to BRING THE SEMINAR TO YOU!

That’s right, we taped the entire weekend – functional anatomy, static assessments, dynamic assessments, how to plan hardcore corrective training, teaching and coaching over 30 exercises, and at the end we even rip on our old-program! Needless to say, this DVD set is going to put you on the fast track to becoming a better lifter, athlete or coach. More details to come soon!

Quick Hit Newsletter

With all the travel and projects this month, I haven’t been able to pull as much content together for this newsletter. However, I’m going to do my best to start updating the newsletter bi-weekly, along with getting some fresh blood in here as well. I’ve been contacted by several young authors and coaches who want to get some content up, so be on the look out for exclusive content that you can only find here on the Robertson Training Systems newsletter.

Training Tip:

Spice up your dumbbell work with isometric holds

Even though dumbbell work uses each arm independently, you can improve the effects of DB work by pressing one dumbbell at a time.

From the starting position of a dumbbell military or bench, hold the right arm extended as you take the left arm through the movement. Repeat on the opposite side by keeping the left arm extended and taking the right arm through the ROM. You can alternate arms, or if one side is significantly stronger than the other perform all the reps on the weak side before moving to the strong side. Not only will you prioritize your weak arm, you’ll pre-fatigue your stronger arm with the isometric hold.

Nutrition Tip:

Revving up Metabolism
by Dr. John Berardi

I recommend more calories than most do. That’s because there’s no such thing as a stagnant metabolic set-point. Instead, metabolism chases intake. So, if you want a bigger metabolism, you need a bigger food intake. And if you’re worried about fat gain with this approach, just use outcome-based decision making and adjust energy (calorie) intake every two weeks based on your results. Not much “damage” can take place in only two weeks. So if you end up boosting your metabolism, you’ll be thanking me eternally. And if it turns out you’re consuming too much, you can just adjust down.
