One question I get all the time from trainers and fitness enthusiasts alike is, how do I choose between the Indy Seminar Series and Building the Efficient Athlete?
While there are definite similarities between the two, there are also enough differences to make them each valuable in their own right. Here’s a brief rundown, assuming you’d like to purchase one before the other.
Building the Efficient Athlete was done first, and more so with trainers in mind. Eric and I cover our general thoughts on training, a ton of functional anatomy, static and dynamic assessments, and how to coach over 30 exercises. I don’t want to sound arrogant in any way, but I really feel this product should be recommended viewing for new trainers in the field.

While Building the Efficient Athlete is very specific (do this, do that, etc.), the Indy Seminar series is more philosophical in nature. Bill and I will give you our general philosophies on why we do things, etc., but we don’t always tell you specifically about how to get from Point A to Point B. In other words, you may need to read between the lines a little bit more, and/or do a little bit more research on your end for everything to make sense. And trust me, that’s not a bad thing!
If I had to give you a quick and dirty answer, I’d say if you’re just starting out BTEA would be a better option. Once you get the fundamentals down, the Indy Seminar Series should give you even more ammunition to take your training to the next level. Both products can be found in our online store.
Stay strong
