Robertson Training Systems Updates:
Bulletproof Knees FOR SALE….
Bulletproof Knees was released a few weeks ago, and the response has been pheonmenal!

Here’s a quick testimonial from strength coach AJ Roberts:
“Bulletproof knees is an easy to understand, step-by-step manual, that covers everything there is to know about knee injuries. It is a must have resource for anyone that has suffered from a knee injury and is looking for a complete recovery and for those who of you who want to know how to prevent future injuries.”

…and a Public Apology to Michael Boyle
On page 81 of the Bulletproof Knees manual, I cited Gray Cook for developing the Joint-by-Joint approach to training. However, this was incorrect – Michael Boyle was the one who developed the concept and should be given credit for his work.
As an author, I understand how nice it is to be referenced and acknowledged for your work. My sincerest apologies go out to Michael, and I’m going to do my best to ensure that all future works of mine are spot-on with regards to references.
Finally, future editions of the manual will reflect this change. Sorry Michael!

Jump Experts
Several months ago I contributed to a product called “Jump Experts.” Essentially, it’s an e-manual and audio downloads that cover the various aspects of jump training. While many of you may not learn something new from my section (how mobility affects performance), there are quite a few big name strength coaches on the list. Check it out!

– Gray Cook
– Mike Robertson
– Steve Cotter
– Lee Taft
– Jimmy Smith
– Jason Brown
– Dave Depew
– …and many more!

Be sure to check out page 56 in the latest edition of Men’s Health; I talk about unilateral discrepancies and how they can affect your health and performance. Remember, anything greater than 10% and you’re leaving yourself at risk!
Training Tip:
Get Stronger
In light of Eric Cressey’s recent article at T-Nation, I want to remind everyone of one thing that will help them in the gym FOREVER.
Put more weight on the damn bar!
Want to build more muscle? Add some weight.
Want to get stronger? Add some weight.
Want to increase your lactic acid threshold and burn body fat? That’s right – add some more weight.
It’s not the only way, but it’s a pretty sure-fire way to help you accomplish your goals.
In the information age, we’re often overwhelmed with all the information we can absorb and assimilate. However, the tried-and-true way to help you achieve most of your goals in the weight room is to get stronger.
When you go to the gym today (or tomorrow), make it a goal to add a few pounds. I’m not even talking 15-20 pound jumps; just add 1-5 pounds on all your exercises. Focus on progression and getting stronger.
And if you missed it, be sure to check out my Kaizen article on my Blog. Little gains over time lead to big time gains over the course of a lifetime!
Nutrition Tip:
ZMA for Deep Sleep
By Dr. John Berardi
ZMA is useful for improving the quality of your sleep. For me, ZMA tends not to induce sleep as much as deepen it. Expect your dreams to be extremely vivid! My athletes, when traveling, or when under heavy training loads, usually included 2-3 ZMA capsules before bed.

Great Articles by Other Coaches
Instead of doing an interview or product review, I thought I’d let you guys in on some awesome articles that I’ve read lately. In this case, these guys have created some great content so instead of re-inventing the wheel, I thought I’d give them credit for work well done.
If you missed these in the past, be sure to check them out ASAP!
The Case for Single Leg Training – Strength coach Mike Boyle depicts his thought on Single-leg training and it’s efficacy for athletes and regular Joe’s.
(De)-Constructing Computer Guy – Tony Gentilcore and Jimmy Smith discuss how computer geeks everywhere you can get more out of their training with better exercise selection.
Are You Doing Stupid Stuff in the Gym? – Eric Cressey talks about the top 5 things you can fix right now to improve your training. Just don’t listen to his ranting about Boston sports – after the recent Randy Moss trade I’ve decided they officially represent the Dark Side of the Force.
The Hierarchy of Fat Loss – Quite simply the best article I’ve ever read on the topic of fat loss. Alwyn discusses exactly what types of exercise to perform, dependent upon how much time you have in the gym. Whether you’re a strength coach, personal trainer or someone trying to lose fat, this is an absolute must read.
