Random Friday

Downtown Boston

This week has been a bit ridiculous with travel, work and all that goes with it, but I figured I’d do my best and pull together a “Random” post before heading into the weekend.

Enjoy!

*  If you drive in Boston, you are crazy.  Period. I have never been more confused, or enraged, in my entire life.  We even had a GPS and that was some of the most stressful driving I’ve ever done in my entire life.

Again, if you drive in Boston, you are crazy.  The End.

In other news, the aquarium is pretty decent, and penquins are fascinating animals.

* Maine is beautiful, and it was awesome to see Eric and Anna tie the knot.  Along those same lines, it was great to see old friends like Tony, Pete and KevLar, and make some new ones as well.

As they saying goes, no speak Americano!

*  Stuart McGill is holding a two-day seminar in St. Louis this January, and I thought I would definitely let all of you know about it.  Dr. McGill is one of the foremost spinal researchers in the world, and I can guarantee this will be a fantastic seminar.

*  As all of us grow and mature, it’s inevitable that we’ll run into “haters,” or people that don’t like you for a variety of reasons.

With this being said, I came across this from Tim Ferriss, author of “The Four-Hour Workweek” book and blog. If you’re dealing with haters, or you’ve dealt with them in the past, I implore you to take these 5 things to heart:

1. It doesn’t matter how many people don’t get it. What matters is how many people do.
2. 10% of people will find a way to take anything personally. Expect it.
3. Trying to get everyone to like you is a sign of mediocrity.
4. If you are really effective at what you do, 95% of the things said about you will be negative.
5. If you want to improve, be content to be thought foolish and stupid.

The funny thing about haters is that they don’t want to acknowledge what you’re doing now, or how you’ve grown – they want to hate on stuff you did in the past.

I guess this is just another example of why the internet is a double-edged sword – EVERYTHING you did in the past is out there, somewhere!

*  Yesterday I spent some time with an Apple rep in a 1-to-1 session, and I’m learning some audio/visual stuff to help take the site to the next level.  No one is going to confuse me with George Lucas, but I think you’re going to like what you see. Thanks to strength coach Joe Kenn for convincing me this would be worthwhile!

*  Along those same lines, the updated site is coming along slowly but surely.  Along with a cleaner look, I think the layout and structure is going to be a lot easier to navigate as well. These things are NEVER as easy, or as fast, as they should be!

All good things take time, so please be patient – I promise it will be worth the wait 🙂

Okay everyone, I’m out of here.  Have a great weekend and I’ll “see” you next week!

All the best

Mike
