Random Friday 3-16-12

It’s been a busy couple of weeks, so I figure there’s no better way to get caught up then to fill you guys in with a “random” post!

The Chicago In-Service is Coming!

This has been a long time in the making, but my Chicago In-Service DVD’s are coming very soon!

This was a live event we recorded at Jim Karas Personal Training in Chicago. The group was really fun to work with, and I think I might have even taught them or two things throughout the day.

The artwork is done, and we’re working on tying up all the loose ends as we speak.

The best part, in my opinion, is that for the first time ever we’re going to offer it both as a streaming product (for our international people or those who don’t care about having a physical product), as well as a hard-copy version.

Stay tuned!

The Elite Training Mentorship is Up and Running!

Last week we launched the Elite Training Mentorship, and it’s already been a huge success!

I’ve got tons of great feedback on the product, and I can guarantee you guys it’s only going to get better with time.

If you want to see how I coach exercises, some of the exact programs I write, as well as in-services and webinars I use to educate my staff, you won’t want to miss out.

Upcoming Seminars

Last week, we had our first Elite Training Workshop in beautiful Napa Valley, California.

This was an awesome event because we get an hour of lecture, and then another hour of hands-on materials. I’m a firm believer that I may not teach you one single thing in the lecture, but in the hands-on I can help you feel what we’re talking about with regards to proper movement.

If you’re interested in attending an upcoming ETW, we still have two more events – one in Frisco, Texas and another in Canton, Connecticut. See my sidebar for links and registration details.

The next actual event on the calendar is the IYCA Summit in Louisville, Kentucky, and after talking to Pat last weekend, it sounds like this could be the biggest event yet!

I also have the Central Virigina Summit coming up in April, and this is the perfect example of being outclassed by your fellow speakers. Just take a look at the list of speakers below and you’ll see what I mean!

Between late March, April, and early May, I’m really traveling a ton so hopefully I can keep my sanity over the next 6-8 weeks!

Books and DVD’s

I get asked all the time about what books I’m reading, so here’s a quick update.

I finished Movement, Make it Big, and Getting Things Done, which I mentioned in my last random update.

Here’s my current list:

Bones of Iron – Greg Everett sent me a copy, and I actually already finished it as it’s an easy and fun read. Tons of good insight into the Olympic lifts, but more importantly, to coaching and life. This reminds me of the old Ironmind books.

Though Shalt Prosper – I’m just starting on this one, but it’s an interesting take on our views regarding money. The author is actually a rabbi who supported himself by running businesses.

In my “free time” I’ve also been reviewing Eric Cressey and Mike Reinold’s “Optimal Shoulder Performance DVD’s, and Greg Everett’s Olympic weightlifting DVD.

Random Randomness

What happens when random post meets random thoughts? Bullet points!

  • Some of my young kiddos at IFAST have been killing it lately. I’ll post updates soon, either here or on the IFAST blog.
  • Training has been a little less than stellar the past month or so, but I think I’ve figured some things out and my body is starting to feel pretty darn good again. Look out for some cool updates to my programming here soon.
  • I hope you guys are enjoying the podcasts. It feels good to be doing them again, and I always learn things in the process. I feel like my most recent podcast with Greg Everett may have been one of our best, EVER.
  • Kendall is getting so big! Here’s a picture of her feeding her face with some Cheerios she was looting.

Okay everyone I’m out of here. Have a great weekend!

All the best

MR
