Today, I’m going to answer one of the most common questions I get from trainers, coaches, and athletes alike:
Why does my squat feel so much getter when I elevate my heels?
Now the most common answer you’ll hear in this regard is that you have “tight” or “stiff” ankles.
Or more specifically, that “your ankle mobility sucks.”
But if that’s true, how come you throw on some lifters, or stand on a ramp/slant board, and your squat magically improves?
The fact of the matter is there’s a deeper answer here, and it goes way beyond just doing some ankle mobility drills and hoping for the best.
So without any further ado, let’s talk about what REALLY happens when you elevate your heels, and why it improves the look and feel of your squat.
Enjoy!
